"Maiman Prize" for UR doctoral student Martin Zizlsperger

Martin Zizlsperger has presented the latest research results of the working group of Rupert Huber at the "Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO)" in San Jose (USA). For his lecture and groundbreaki ng results, Zizlsperger received the "Maiman Prize", which is awarded annually by the world's leading society for optics and photonics, called "Optica", and is endowed with 3000 US dollars. The program recognizes innovation, research excellence and presentation skills of students in the fields of laser technology and electro -optics. It is one of the highest international awards for doctoral students in this research area. It is named after the U.S. physicist Theodore Maiman, who invented the first working laser in 1960. In its statement of the verdict, the Society for Optics and Photonics recognized Zizlsperger's "effective presentation and his outstanding research achievements in the field of ultrafast nanoscopy."
