UR physicist receives Walter Schottky Prize

In 2023, the DPG will award Kai-Qiang Lin the Walter Schottky Prize for Young Physicists in Solid State Research. With this award, the world's largest physics society honors Dr. Lin's pioneering work on atomically thin semiconductor crystals, in particular the elucidation of the role of electron-like particles of negative mass in excited states of matter. This could be used, for example, to design new electronic components that serve to convert the color of light, store or even amplify light, or even function as optical switches.
